Highways Electrician

 

Competency Requirements

A minimum of 1 year experience of working in electrical construction including:

  • Structural and electrical testing

  • Installation of new street lighting projects

  • Fault finding

  • 1st stage maintenance

  • Bulk change and clean

  • cable jointing

Essential Qualifications Required:

  • City and Guilds 2391, 2394, 2395 (or equivalent)

  • AM2

  • BS7671 18th edition

Desirable Qualifications Required:

  • CBQ NVQ level 3 for the highway electrical sector

  • Safe isolation

  • G39

  • Temporary traffic management on rural and urban roads

  • IPAF

  • Manual Handling

  • First Aid

  • Power tools hand tools

A Full clean driving licence (minor points considered) is essential.

Street Lighting Operative

Your must have at least 1 years experience of assisting in electrical construction activities including:

  • Safe working in the vicinity of electricity and telephone overhead lines

  • Signing, guarding, traffic management and NRSWA requirements

  • Bulk lamp change and clean

  • Fault investigation / repair

  • Street Lighting installation / maintenance

A full clean driving licence (minor points considered) is essential as are the relevant authorisations to operate a MEWP (class 2 licence is an advantage).

In addition the following qualifications/Certifications are desirable however consideration may be given to training for the right applicant

  • ECS

  • HEA Card

  • FIRST AID

  • MANUAL HANDLING

  • POWER TOOLS

  • G39 AWARENESS

  • TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT 302.1

  • STREETWORKS (UNITS 1,2,3)

  • IPAF

  • Level 2 NVQ in Street Lighting (HESA)
